Because Only Together Can We

Help women and men make healthy, life-affirming decisions regarding pregnancy and sexual health, as we walk beside them with God’s guidance

Who We Are

We are a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to serving Southwestern Missouri. Since 2004, Pregnancy Life Line has helped over 1,545 individuals with prenatal and parenting education. We are dedicated to empowering individuals to make healthy life choices through education, mentoring and other resources.

We work with every client on an individual basis, helping them set goals and achieve them. Many of our clients have nowhere else to turn for education and support as they decide what to do about an unplanned pregnancy and how to create a healthy, functioning family.

We Believe…

  • That life begins at conception and that preborn babies are people created in the image of God.
  • In the sanctity and dignity of all human life.
  • In maintaining client trust and protecting their privacy.
  • In assisting our clients in making educated and well-informed choices in a loving, non-judgmental environment.
  • That the Bible is the true word of God and that we should share the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

We are an affiliate of Heartbeat International.

What We provide

We Facilitate Safe Learning Spaces

When we work with a client, we look at their whole life situation. It’s hard to be a good parent when you can’t pay the rent or feed your family, so in addition to prenatal and parenting classes we offer training and support on life skills such as job hunting, keeping a job, opening a bank account, cooking healthy food, and budgeting.

Our comprehensive services encourage early entry into prenatal care, improve maternal nutrition and encourage reduction of alcohol and tobacco use during pregnancy, thereby improving the health of mother and baby.

We work with our clients individually to determine the best goals and most effective strategies for that person and his/her situation. Our clients attend weekly classes with case management and access to our registered nurses.

To foster a sense of responsibility and self-esteem we use an “earn while you learn” approach. Clients earn points every time they attend classes and do their homework. They can use those points to “buy” items from our Baby Boutique, including maternity and baby clothes (gently used), diapers and wipes, and other material resources. They can save up their points to “buy” larger items such as used strollers and high chairs. This reinforces the value of delayed gratification and the concept of saving.

client Stories

“E.” – Learning to Overcome the Past

“E.” had a troubled upbringing, raised by parents who were addicted and abusive. When she found out she was pregnant, she was worried that she wouldn’t know how to be a good mom because of the way she was brought up. But E. found hope at PLL. She says, “PLL has helped me to understand that I could be a good mom, and they have equipped me to be just that…just because my parents were messed up didn’t mean I had to be.” She feels privileged to be the mother to her happy baby.

“C.” – Clean, Sober, and Loving Motherhood

At the age of 13, “C.” tried drugs for the first time. By 8th grade, she was kicked out of school for selling drugs. By age 15, she was addicted to meth. However, when she found out she was pregnant, she made the hard decision to get clean. Though she was initially reluctant to come to PLL, she quickly changed her mind. She says, “I am excited to come – this place is my second home. I am not scared to ask for help or ask a question because I know if I needed anything I could come here…they build me up to be a good mom. It is such a positive place.” C. has a healthy baby and received her GED.

“A.” – Found Hope at PLL

“A.” had a tough upbringing in an abusive household. She dreams of giving her kids a better life than she had. A. attended many classes at PLL and says “I feel at ease and at home. It helps coming and having someone to support you and talk to.” She says that even through hardships, with PLL’s help, a weight was lifted off her shoulders.

“B.” and “I.” – Homeless Couple

She was pregnant, he was out of work and they had no family support. “B.” had major medical needs and also had deep fears stemming from her childhood. They have attended classes at PLL for 6 months. They are committed to one another and their child. He is now working full time, and she is an “at home” mom, and they are now living in a house they are able to rent. They are grateful for the support system and encouragement that helped make this possible!

“H.” – Custody of 3 Week Old Son

“H.” received sole custody of his 3 week old son because the mother was unable to care for the baby. Imagine being the father of a tiny baby, having sole custody of this child, but not knowing how to hold your child securely or where to turn for support. Like most new parents, H. had many questions and concerns. He attended our Infant Wellness Class and learned how to know the difference between normal infant behavior and when to call the doctor. He worked with our Man2Man mentors to understand his role as a father and to gain parenting skills. We taught him basic baby care along with life skills, which gave him some much needed confidence as a new dad.
